Is it ok to follow up with a company after you sent a resume? or is that rude? 3 comments
I have sent a few resumes through email and attached my cover letter and resume (the instructions said to email) and Im a little worried it might to the company’s junk maill, or that they might never see it.
Is it professional or a common practice for applicants to follow up with a company after sending the resume/application EVEN if you have not been contacted by them?
I was wondering if I contacted them on my own will after sending my resume, maybe it would show them I really want to work for them, I dont know, any employers or HR people who know about this stuff, please help! God Bless!

I’ve never worked in HR, but I understand they file a lot of resume’s and sometimes don’t look at them right away.
If I were you I’d call and mention what you were applying for and say you sent a resume to that address and was wondering if they received it.
If you’re very polite it won’t seem like you’re desperate and it may even help you get the edge on others who apply.
Good luck !!

Yes! By all means contact them or call and ask for an appointment- depending on the company. Typically the emails are held in a folder and then gone through once the deadline has past. By calling the perspective employer your resume is then pulled out of the group and taken a second look at. (It tends to end up back in on the top of the pile also!)
When calling be courteous! Ask them if now is a good time to talk or would 3:30 be better (be specific!). This shows respect for your perspective bosses schedule and that you are detail oriented! You may have called during shift change or while he/she already has someone in the office. If they say 3:30 would be better, thank them and hang up. Be sure that you call back promptly at 3:30!!!!! this could make or break your deal. And, if you are invited in to fill out an application – for heaven sakes! bring ALL of your info and BRING YOUR OWN PEN! If you show up unprepared to fill out an application – they believe you will show up for work unprepared also! ATTENTION TO DETAIL! is a MUST! Right down to the smile on your face- even when calling – we can tell! Speak clearly also. Countless times applications have been set aside because the person on the phone had chewing gum in their mouth and it was obvious~!DJK

YES! Contact them!
Worry about spam filters is valid!!
E-mail often does not get through, so following up to see if your resume and cover letter were received is a good idea. If they have received it, you can ask if they have any questions, how the search is going, when they will be calling people in for interviews (or doing phone interviews first), etc.
Follow up to establish a “human” connection with someone there – put a voice and, hopefully, a personality with the files.
Good luck!
