How long should I wait until a follow-up phone call? 3 comments
I turned in a job application to my local library about 5 days ago. This is my first job application process….
I’m doubtful that the employee I gave my application to didn’t turn in the application, and I’m worried that I haven’t gotten a call back from the library.
How long should I wait until I give them a follow-up phone call? And would it be more sensible to follow-up on them receiving my application or on them calling me in for an interview?

It would depend on whether or not there is an opening. If you are responding to a job announcement than call within a week. If you simply dropped by and filled out an application then wait two weeks. You don’t want to irritate the director.

I’d give it two more days – just to make it a solid week that’s gone by. I also suggest shooting them an email, which can help get you the same information, but in a more subtle way. Good luck!
