How long should I wait until a follow-up phone call?   3 comments

I turned in a job application to my local library about 5 days ago. This is my first job application process….
I’m doubtful that the employee I gave my application to didn’t turn in the application, and I’m worried that I haven’t gotten a call back from the library.

How long should I wait until I give them a follow-up phone call? And would it be more sensible to follow-up on them receiving my application or on them calling me in for an interview?

  1. I’d give it two more days – just to make it a solid week that’s gone by. I also suggest shooting them an email, which can help get you the same information, but in a more subtle way. Good luck!

  2. call asap
    the sooner the better
it shows that you are ACTUALLY interested and not just wasting their time

  3. It would depend on whether or not there is an opening. If you are responding to a job announcement than call within a week. If you simply dropped by and filled out an application then wait two weeks. You don’t want to irritate the director.
