Is it good to send a follow up email after an interview?   3 comments

Just to see where things are at or if they say they were going to call you in a couple of weeks to let you know and that they didn’t, so is it good just to remind them by sending a email up to follow up on it?

  1. I would think so if they promised a date to let you know. I know each place is different. They can’t get annoyed that you followed up and cared. If they are annoyed, then that’s their problem and you probably wouldn’t want to work with unprofessionalism. I have done it before and it worked. I also know that sometimes it just is an annoyance. The key is to keep doing your best and something will come up.

  2. email-no. A real letter, yes! An e mail can be deleted oh, so easily, and often is. A letter requires the recipient to actually handle it. Now that it is in his hands., he will probably be curious enough to read it.

Isn’t the chance of getting considered worth the cost of a stamp?

  3. Send them a real letter through the mail, thanking them for the interview. If you interviewed with more than one person, send a letter to each individual that was part of the interview process. Don’t ask “where things are at” or reminding them to call, simply thank them for the time. In addition, it can be great to slip in how interested you are in the job and company, and if there was something that you particular enjoyed during the interview, or that you and the interviewer had in common, put that in the letter as well. Be sure that you spell the interviewers name properly, and that you have the proper title for that person. Good luck to you.
