Is it appropriate to follow-up on a job application when there are currently no available positions? 2 comments

I have applied at several stores just to be able to apply and just get my name and resume out there for consideration. It is my first job. The companies I have applied to do not currently have any open positions. I have read all over to follow up on an application, but most of these refer to an actual AVAILABLE JOB POSITION. If they are not hiring, should I still follow up on my application?

Yeah. Keep calling. Tell them that you’re really interested in working. They’ll consider you a lot more if you keep following up on it.
Good luck!

Definitely follow up. Take the approach,” although there may not be any openings at present, please keep me in mind should something come up.” Once a month is adequate. You don’t want to have them forget you, but you don’t want to risk being told not to bother them.
If you talk to them, you might ask, ” is it ok if I check with you again in a month or so”
It only takes a few minutes, and it shows them you are serious. Good luck!
