Is it appropriate to follow-up on a job application when there are currently no available positions?   2 comments

I have applied at several stores just to be able to apply and just get my name and resume out there for consideration. It is my first job. The companies I have applied to do not currently have any open positions. I have read all over to follow up on an application, but most of these refer to an actual AVAILABLE JOB POSITION. If they are not hiring, should I still follow up on my application?

What should I do to follow-up after I have submitted a job application?   1 comment

I’ve seen a lot of sites on the Internet describing only email, letter, or phone call follow-up. I have a hard time finding any information about actually going into the workplace to follow-up. Here is my application information:
- It is my first job.
- I am a 16-year-old high school sophomore.
- I have only applied at large stores so far, ex: Albertson’s, Safeway, and Fred Meyer.
- It has been two weeks since I have applied.

Any help is great! Thanks!

How long should I wait until a follow-up phone call?   3 comments

I turned in a job application to my local library about 5 days ago. This is my first job application process….
I’m doubtful that the employee I gave my application to didn’t turn in the application, and I’m worried that I haven’t gotten a call back from the library.

How long should I wait until I give them a follow-up phone call? And would it be more sensible to follow-up on them receiving my application or on them calling me in for an interview?
